Understand the role of geography and environment in the making of the history of Kerala - topographical survey and significance of the human geography and recollect variety of sources for the reconstruction of the history of pre- modern Kerala. Evaluate the features of analyze the transition of historical consciousness in Kerala through the ages.

Understand the cultural transformation passed through the Ages of Stone Age to Iron Age and Evaluate the importance of Ancient Tamil anthologies for the reconstruction of the early history of Kerala- Debates on Chronology, Sangam Polity, Thini Concept, Socio-economic life of the people, and position of Women. Evaluate the theoretical knowledge about the social and cultural formations in pre- modern 
 Kerala.
