This course is offered for I semester MSc Statistics students of the Department of Statistics. The course is given as a prerequisite to the papers such as Multivariate Analysis, Probability Theory, Estimation, Testing of Hypothesis, Non-Parametric Methods, Stochastic Process. This is a 4 credit course divided into six modules.

MACRO ECONOMICS - I
- CO1 :To promote understanding of alternative perspectives with respect to macroeconomic theories and policies.
- CO2 :To enhance the analytical skills of the student towards understanding the developments in the economy.
- CO3 :To introduce the student to the art of abstracting and building small models related to the macroeconomics.
- CO4 :To introduce the student to the economics of Keynes and further to IS LM analytics. The various theories related to consumption, investment and demand for money are introduced in this section.
- CO5 :Gives a fair exposure to the importance of regulating the financial system, and draws attention to the limitations to policymaking in an open economy.
MAT-CC-515 NUMERICAL METHODS
CO1: To develop the mathematical skills of the students in the areas of numerical methods.
CO2: To teach theory
and applications of numerical methods in a large number of engineering subjects
which require solutions of linear systems, finding eigenvalues, eigenvectors,
interpolation and applications.

Image Processing Laboratory
This course deals with the implementation of basic image processing and machine learning algorithms in Python , C and MATLAB.
MAT-CC-411 LINEAR ALGEBRA
After going through this course, you will be able to understand about Vector Spaces, basis of a Vector space, invariant subspaces, diagonable matrices, Jordan form of a general matrix and the Cayley Hamilton theorem. Also you will be able to solve problems related to change of basis and matrix of a linear transformation, computation of the dual basis for a given basis of a vector space, computation of the Eigenvalues and Eigenvectors of matrices. You will also be able to create nilpotent matrices, unitary similar matrices and normal matrices and to derive properties of Hermitian matrices and positive definite matrices.
